Anthropology 418: Human Issues in International Development Ethnography-Based Paper Assignment Selected Ethnography: Families of the Forest by Alan Johnson Focus Population: The Matsigenka (Machiguenga) Indigenous People of the Amazon Assignment Purpose Write a 7-page, double-spaced ethnography-based paper analyzing the Matsigenka population described in Alan Johnson’s ethnography. The paper should: Demonstrate understanding of the culture group. Identify the population’s needs and available resources. Develop a realistic international development project addressing one or more identified needs. Integrate cultural understanding into development recommendations. Identify organizations, businesses, NGOs, or government entities that could support the project. This is not a book review. The paper should use the ethnography as a source of cultural information and develop a critical analysis of development issues affecting the population.
