The intent of this assignment is for the student to demonstrate the ability to synthesize readings and write clearly using the APA style. A potential reference list in APA format and literature summary table are required as preliminary assignments to help you develop your final paper. Do not go back more than 7 years. DO NOT rely on GOOGLE to provide scholarly support for your paper. A blog is not an acceptable resource. Scholarly APA Paper: Students will write and submit a formal paper on the approved topic. Nurses gather and assess data/evidence to identify and define problems and propose solutions based on research. Provide a succinct background of the problem. Discuss how factors (legal, spiritual, ethical, cultural, financial) and areas (practice, administration, education, research) impact nursing and why this problem is important. Synthesize the top 2 or 3 evidence-based solutions you discovered in your library research and discuss the actions nursing must take to bring about change. The paper will be graded based on compliance with APA format and ability to present material through the written word. Students are directed to review the Scholarly APA Paper rubric for specific grading criteria. Strive to be clear and concise. There is NOT a specific page requirement. Most well-written papers consist of 4-6 pages of content (not including the title page and references). Additional writing resources are located under Modules>Course Resources. Many students find it helpful to meet with a subject librarian for an in-depth consultation about library research. The librarian for nursing is embedded within this course and can be contacted via course email. Papers with a similarity score greater than 25% will not be accepted. Scholarly Paper Presentation: Students will create and present a narrated professional presentation about the approved topic. Formats for the class presentation may include video, poster, PowerPoint or Prezi, etc. Students will also complete a peer review in response to at least one classmate's presentation, using the assignment rubric to discuss strengths and areas for improvement. All due dates for this project assignments are published in the course schedule. Rubrics are located within each assignment link. It is expected that you will meet the published due dates. No late work will be accepted. As a reminder from the Syllabus: Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is prohibited.
