midterm Children's Early Language and Literacy Development

This is a midterm assignment for a future seminar paper (which I will also be commissioning later). The topic is “Neurolinguistic differences between monolingual and bilingual children: how growing up with two languages affects the way the brain develops and processes language.” Below are the instructions for the assignment. The midterm paper will essentially be a preview of the seminar paper. As such, you will explore some of the research on the topic of your choosing, write a literature review, and provide at least an outline for the “practical component” of the paper. Important requirements: The paper should be 6-8 pages (not including the reference list) A maximum of 10 references Sources must be from peer-reviewed journals and from 2015 onwards. Papers need to adhere to APA style, both in terms of format (e.g., headings) as well as citation style within the text and in the bibliography. That is, what kind of practical development could be implemented based on the topic you are exploring. Some possibilities: Propose a research study that can examine a particular theory relating to the topic. This will have to be specific: How many participants, what ages, etc. What measures would you use You must also state what your hypotheses are regarding this study – what would you expect your results to be if you were to actually implement the study? Propose an intervention that can improve the language or literacy component you are studying. Here as well, this has to be specific. What exactly would you do. E.g., If you are going into a school – what grades? What would you provide to the teacher/students/parents, etc.? What are your hypotheses regarding the intervention – what would you expect to happen if you were to actually implement the intervention? You can conduct some kind of actual observation relating to your topic. E.g., If you are exploring something relating to multilingualism, you can conduct a couple of language observations of children – you will need to obtain parental consent (and child assent depending on the age). Describe the context of the observation, providing as many details as possible What transpired during the observations? Provide specific examples! What conclusions drawn from the observations?
