EDA 6232 EDUCATIONAL POLICY AND LAW Directions for: Critical Key Assessment/Portfolio Assignment School Law Implementation Analysis Paper The candidate will select a Florida Senate Bill enacted during this year’s legislative session and examine how compliance to this new law will be implemented at the school level. Additionally, candidates will develop a strategy to effectively communicate these changes to relevant stakeholders including teachers, students, parents, and community members. Analysis Paper Format Title Section: Introduction (1 page) Your introduction should start with a concise overview of what scholarly research indicates about the role of educational policy and law in schools. It should also include a summary of the specific Florida Law you will discuss in your paper. Please ensure that all research cited comes from course materials and articles you have investigated. Title Section: Compliance of Law Analysis (2-3 pages) Candidates will analyze the selected Florida Law and detail its impact on school sites. They will describe what compliance with the law will entail in practical terms at a school level. The summary must clearly articulate the connection between the chosen law and its theoretical implications for school policy. Additionally, the analysis should differentiate between practical compliance at the school site and the theoretical effect on school policy. Title Section: Communication of Law Implementation Plan (2-3 pages) Candidates will develop a comprehensive communication plan targeted at their school’s stakeholders, including teachers, students, parents, and community members. This plan will outline the new school policies and procedures that have been established in response to the newly adopted Florida law selected for this assignment. The communication strategy should include a clear timeline for disseminating information, the channels through which the information will be shared (e.g., newsletters, school assemblies, social media, parent meetings), and the content of the messages. Additionally, the plan should specify how to effectively engage stakeholders in a dialogue about these changes, addressing any concerns and feedback they might have.
