The market place and even the "Church", have been littered over the past several decades with organizational scandals, political gamesmanship, and dishonest gain. The average person seems to be clamoring for the kind of leadership that is overtly based on principled values, uncompromising integrity, and people who are authentic and genuine. Much of the leadership literature right now is centered around the notion of authenticity. Authentic leadership can be defined as an orientation based on positive, socially constructed forms of leadership that emphasizes self-awareness, consistent self-regulation, high moral capacity, and a hopeful contagion effect on followers. What role does this construct play in spiritual formation? As ministry leaders what do you see as some of the things that both enhance and hinder becoming an authentic believer? (Dr. Eric Scalise)
