Module Paper 1: The song “Dixie,” also known as “Dixie’s Land,” or “I Wish I Was in Dixie,” was a very popular song originally performed in guise of blackface minstrelsy. In the American Civil War, both the Confederate and Union armies adopted the song as anthems in their own way.
