Draft Needed? 1-page summary? 275 words per page | Draft paper | One Page Summary Instructions Formal Paper #4: Final Research Paper For the final research paper in this course, you will write an essay that presents an “unsolved mystery” and uses research to argue persuasively for one possible solution to this mystery. Your paper should begin by establishing or explaining the mystery and then go on to use research and logic to persuade readers of one specific solution. The paper should also bring up other possible solutions and dismiss or disprove them. Here are a few examples of unsolved mysteries with many possible solutions: -Who was “Jack the Ripper”? -Why was Stonehenge built? - Did George Mallory make it to the top of Mount Everest before he died there in 1924? -Was there really a Lost City of Atlantis? -What happened to the “Bog People”? - What would the Voynich Manuscript say if it could be decoded? - The Oak Island Treasure: a “money pit” or an empty hole in the ground? -Who was D.B. Cooper? -Who shot J.F.K.? (only permitted conspiracy theory) You are highly encouraged to use one of the mysteries suggested above, but you may also propose a paper on any other unsolved mystery that interests you, provided the topic is approved. You should choose something that you will enjoy working on, but keep in mind that you will need to find at least six reputable sources on your mystery, so do not pick something too obscure. For this assignment, you are also required to give a graded oral presentation of five to ten minutes in length in which you will explain the unsolved mystery you would like to work on and propose some possible solutions. Other Technical Requirements: -This paper must be EIGHT to TEN pages long (2000-2500 words). -You must cite at least SIX reputable sources (including books, periodicals, respected blogs, etc.) -You must include a works cited page according to proper MLA format. -Your paper must be in double-spaced, 12-point, Times New Roman font. -Your paper must include a heading, title, and page numbers. I will need a rough draft as soon as possible, if possible before April 29th(I have to give my rough draft on this date), (at least thesis statement, outline, and bibliography)
